CONSUMO ABUSIVO DE BEBIDAS ALCOÓLICAS ENTRE JOVENS

Introdução: as práticas de lazer de jovens no Brasil, usualmente, estão associadas ao consumo de bebidas alcoólicas, fato que talvez seja consequência da percepção deles sobre a própria qualidade de vida. Objetivo: avaliar o consumo de bebidas alcoólicas e o risco associado junto a jovens na cidade de Campinas, SP. Métodos: A amostra foi composta por 287 jovens entre 18 e 21 anos, 140 do sexo masculino e 147 do sexo feminino, sendo que 106 eram universitários e 181 com ensino médio completo e não eram universitários. O consumo de bebidas alcoólicas foi medido por meio do Teste de Identificação de Transtornos por Uso de Álcool (AUDIT). O Critério de Classificação Econômica Brasil (CCEB) foi usado para avaliar o perfil socioeconômico dos participantes. Estatística descritiva e não paramétrica foi utilizada para verificar eventuais diferenças no consumo de álcool entre os grupos homens e mulheres e entre alunos universitários e não universitários, com nível de significância fixado em p <0,05. Resultados: Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas (p <0,078) entre os sexos, nem entre universitários e não universitários. Não foi detectada nenhuma relação significativa entre o consumo de álcool e o perfil socioeconômico em nenhum dos grupos pesquisados. Isso mostra que o acesso às bebidas alcoólicas é amplamente facilitado, com muitos pontos de venda e a preços acessíveis para jovens de todos os estratos econômicos. Estudos em vários países mostram que políticas públicas restritivas e/ou proibitivas, apesar de importantes, não resolvem o problema; estas devem estar associadas a intervenções educacionais de longo prazo no conjunto de estratégias para o enfrentamento do uso abusivo de bebidas alcoólicas.
