QUANDO DEVE SER INICIADA A HIGIENIZAÇÃO BUCAL DOS BEBÊS? REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA DE LITERATURA

Introdução: O conhecimento dos pais sobre os cuidados com saúde bucal nos primeiros meses de vida do bebê tem implicação direta no desenvolvimento de hábitos saudáveis na primeira infância. No entanto, ainda não existem evidências de que a realização da higiene bucal de bebês edêntulos apresente um efeito benéfico na saúde bucal a longo prazo. Metodologia: O presente estudo objetiva realizar uma revisão integrativa da literatura sobre a higienização da cavidade bucal de bebês edêntulos. Foram utilizados descritores retirados do Medical Subject Headings (MeSH/PubMed) e operador booleano “AND”, para proporciona a síntese do conhecimento e a inclusão da aplicabilidade de resultados de estudos científicos. Resultados e Discussão: Foram encontrados 277 estudos dos quais foram selecionados 5 estudos para compor a seção de resultados e discussão. Os trabalhos foram selecionados pelos critérios de inclusão previamente estabelecido. Considerações Finais: A higiene bucal de bebês edêntulos deve ser avaliada individualmente para uma tomada de decisão baseada no contexto em que o bebê está inserido.
